Cochineal Dyed Kangaroo Hide Drum
Handmade in Coomba Park on the NSW Mid North Coast, using cochineal-dyed kangaroo hide - a deep natural purple produced from whole dried beetles, a dye used for centuries. No two hides take the colour the same way. This drum is entirely her own.
The 14” paulownia frame is made by a trusted artisan whose craft I deeply respect. The lacing is cut from the same kangaroo hide as the face - one continuous strand, beginning and ending in the same animal.
Kangaroo hide is known for its bright, articulate response - light under the hand, warm in tone, and deeply alive to play.
She comes with a needle felted, hand whittled beater made from a windfallen branch.
Price includes postage within Australia.
