Natural Goat Hide Drum

$888.00

Handmade in Coomba Park on the NSW Mid North Coast, using natural goat hide - undyed, pale, and quietly marked with the character of the animal it came from. Goat hide is less common from this studio, and each one carries its own distinct quality.

The 14” paulownia frame is made by a trusted artisan whose craft I deeply respect. The lacing is cut from the same goat hide as the face - one continuous strand, beginning and ending in the same animal.

Goat hide has an earthy, tactile quality under the hand - a visible grain and a warmth of tone that is rounder and more settled than kangaroo. Responsive to both hand and beater.

She comes with a needle felted, hand whittled beater made from a windfallen branch - and a rattle made from the same goat hide. A matching set, beginning and ending in the same animal.

Price includes postage within Australia.
