Natural Hair-On Calf Hide Drum
Handmade in Coomba Park on the NSW Mid North Coast, using full hair-on calf hide - face, lacing and all. Brown and white, the natural markings of the animal present on every surface. One continuous strand of hair-on lacing, beginning and ending in the same hide.
The 18” paulownia frame is made by a trusted artisan whose craft I deeply respect.
Hair-on calf is something I’ve rarely encountered in frame drums. The tone is earthy and grounded - more rumble than ring, the texture of the hide finding its way into the sound. She will suit someone drawn to something unprocessed and a little wild.
She comes with a needle felted, hand whittled beater made from a windfallen branch.
Price includes postage within Australia.
